Chairman Enquiries and Anti-Corruption Establishment Sindh Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah has given the officials concerned a go-ahead to conduct raids and arrest corrupt officials involved in tanker mafia business in Karachi, Town Municipal Administration across the province, Sub-Registrars of Co-operative Housing Societies besides, revenue, health and other high profile cases in other departments and challan them in courts of law within 15 days next.
These directives he issued at a meeting of deputy directors across from the province held on Monday at his office to review high profile cases and progress so far made on them. The meeting was also attended by Director Anti-Corruption Establishment, Sindh, Nazar Muhammad Bozdar. He directed all the Deputy Directors to establish intelligence unit at their respective offices with a view to strengthen intelligence collection, adding that they should observe vigilance on complaints of corruption in all Government Departments in their respective jurisdictions.
In order to achieve a success, he said that a campaign has been launched from within the department and as a first step, officials from other departments, working in this department have been repatriated to their parent Departments and a major reshuffle has been completed. He asked the Deputy Directors to furnish report on professional integrity of their sub-ordinate staff right from a police Constable to Circle Officers and warned that no corrupt official would be spared.
He informed the meeting that the Chief Secretary and the Divisional Commissioners have decided to convene meetings of the Anti-Corruption Committee every month and every fortnight to review and expedite corruption cases. Shah made a fervent appeal on the Civil Society Organisations to come forward and pinpoint financial corruption and corrupt practices in government departments and organisations and assured them that identity of source will be kept confidential and the complainant will also be informed of progress in the matters.
