Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has accepted a proposal, floated by Member National Assembly (MNA) Sajida Zulfiqar, for holding exhibitions of handicrafts and industrial & cultural products of KP at Peshawar and Islamabad. Dates of the proposed shows will be fixed by the organising committee formed by the Chief Minister under chairmanship of the MNA from Mardan, Sajida Zulfiqar. The committee was comprised Senator Mohsin Aziz, secretaries of industries, culture and social welfare departments, officials of P&D and Finance departments and Smeda and Head of the Industrial Estates Management Board, Ghulam Dastagir besides other members.
The committee would also review the offers of financial and technical assistance made by certain foreign donors for imparting quality technical education, directed Chief Minister Pervez Khattak while presiding over a meeting in this regard held at CM House on Saturday. He also directed to involve the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) for reviewing any likelihood of collaboration with foreign donors.
Responding to a reported offer by Japan for extending financial assistance in health sector, Pervez Khattak maintained that funding to any particular health facility would not be encouraged and the donor should consider funding to charitable institutions in all social sectors. Elaborating the idea for exhibiting the KP's indigenous hand-made and other products, MNA Sajida Zulfiqar informed the meeting that main purpose of the proposed events was promoting the world famous traditional and attractive products of the cottage industry as well as the rich cultural dresses of KP. She hoped that exhibitions would also help develop market linkages for the manufacturers and generate considerable employment opportunities.
