Chief of Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take sue motu notice of the incident of child abuse in a Kasur village and set up a judicial commission for prompt probe into the scandal.
While talking to the media at the village Hussain Khan Wala during a visit, he demanded that enquiry into the matter should be carried out at full speed and the culprits involved in the most heinous crime be tried in a military court on charges of terrorism, adding that there could not be a greater act of terrorism than abuse of minor children. JI provincial general Secretary Nazir Ahmed Janua and other party leaders accompanied the JI chief.
The JI chief said that the Punjab Chief Minister should not feel satisfied simply by expressing sympathies with the victim families from Raiwind but should visit the affected people and try to console them.
Sirajul Haq said that the elements patronising the culprits were pressuring the aggrieved families not to initiate legal proceedings into the matter while the police was siding with the criminals instead of the victims. He said one could not even think of a greater crime than the abuse of small children and forcing the parents to pay extortion.
He said this immoral practice had been going on in the area for years but the district administration did not have any clue of that. He said that hundreds of the villagers of the area had staged a protest in front of the Punjab Assembly some time ago but the Chief Minister and the assembly members did not give due attention to the matter. As a result, the protestors returned home disappointed.
The JI chief said that the general public was totally disappointed by the police and judicial system as the courts had failed to dispense justice. He lamented that justice was on sale and whosoever did not have lakhs of rupees, would not dare to knock the door of the court.
Sirajul Haq lauded the efforts of advocates Mubeen Ghaznavi and Lateef Sara" for the provision of justice to the aggrieved and assured them of full JI support in case the police or political element tried to harm them.
