Three-day training on psycho-social first aid was given to KP Police to impart them with essential skills required to deal effectively with psychologically stressed complainants. The training was attended by 30 police officers from Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Swabi and Nowshera district. The training course aimed to enhance participants' knowledge on gender, gender roles, gender based violence and other international standards of human rights, including, gender equality.
The police officers were briefed on the importance of referrals and other focusing techniques, including the effects of both good and bad listening were demonstrated during several role-playing exercises. The training is expected to inculcate resilience and a positive work attitude among the police personnel to deal positively with the survivors.
The training held at the School of Investigations, Hayatabad was jointly organized by KP Police and the Aitebaar programme.
Aitebaar is a four-year UKAID funded program, implemented in collaboration with the KP Government with an aim to strengthen trust between citizens and government in the security and justice sector.
