Federal Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan said on Wednesday that there will be no trade talks with India till restoration of normal relations at diplomatic level. He stated this while addressing a seminar titled "Engineers: a complete solution provider to the energy crisis" organised by the Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Pakistan (IEEEP).
He said since 2014 there was no dialogue and progress on trade with India. He said that Advisor to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz will visit New Delhi for NSA talks on August 23. He hoped that diplomatic relations with India will be improved after NSA talks. Dastagir said that time has come that we should resolve all the technical issues related to the construction of Kalabagh Dam.
He said that clarity must be ensured in all technical points of the Kala Bagh Dam (KBD) so as to decide about its construction. every problem/issue had multiple solutions and the KBD was one solution to energy and water shortage, adding that politicians would finally resolve this issue, once all ambiguities and differences in technical points were removed. He also announced his full support to the engineering community and that he would raise the problems faced by the engineering community on every level.
