Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday said that the nation's resolve to fight against terrorism had further strengthened after the Attock incident. Talking to media after addressing the 30th passing out parade at the Pakistan Rangers Academy here, he strongly condemned the cowardly attacks in Attock and Karachi and said such incidents could not weaken the nation's resolve against terrorism.
"Our resolve gets further boosted with each and every heinous step of terrorists," he remarked. He warned the elements, attempting to create and give an impression of disappointment, to avoid unnecessary debate on the incidents of terrorism as it creates hurdle in handling the anti-state elements.
The minister said perpetrators of the Attock incident would be brought to justice soon as the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) were investigating the incident in the right direction and were close to them (culprits). "The culprits are on our target, we are just waiting for completion of the investigation," he said. Nisar said the terrorists, who were operating in streets, had fled after LEAs broke their networks.
Replying to a question about security of the martyred Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada, he said, he was a brave person and always believed in keeping the traditional and low security in his squad. As per intelligence reports, the minister said, Khanzada was advised not to visit the Shadi Khel village but in local politics, politicians were meant to meet public at their 'Deras.' To another question, he underlined the need to enhance capacity building of intelligence departments to ensure peace and tranquillity in the country.
To a question about resignations of Muttahida Qaumi Movement's (MQM) parliamentarians, he said the government never talked about any 'minus-one' formula and only those who 'coined' the idea could give its answer. He said whosoever committed any crime weather it was the Imran Farooq murder case, would be brought to book, adding that the resignations issue would be tackled in accordance with law and the constitution.
Nisar said the government had forgiven those who used derogatory language against the elected representatives of the public, threatened the government and took unlawful and unconstitutional steps to oust the democratically elected government. Because the government wants to promote democratic norms, and put the country on path to progress and development. Earlier addressing the passing out ceremony, the minister congratulated the passing out batch of 499 cadets for completing the six-month tough training and exhibiting professional skills in the parade.
"Although, you have finished your training but a practical life is starting from here. You are going to join the Punjab Rangers force which has the responsibility to safeguard frontiers of the country and ensure peace and security within the country too," he said.
He said Rangers were not only soldiers of the country but also Islam and the new recruits should have the knowledge about it, saying that today the country was passing through a number of challenges like security and terrorism. "You have the double responsibility and you are supposed to ensure it," he added. He said it was difficult to tackle the hidden enemy who attacked cowardly and the civil armed forces had to face them. He expressed confidence that the civil armed forces would continue to come up to the expectations of the nation and succeed in flushing out terrorists completely.
"Success is our ultimate destiny because we are on the right side and terrorists are wrongly using the name of Islam in carrying out subversive activities and targeting innocent children, women and general public," he said. Islam, he said, was the religion of peace and it did not allow any one to take lives of innocent people, he added. He said the country's enemy was getting assistance from outside to create anarchy and achieve his nefarious designs.
Nisar said that India was continuously violating the ceasefire at the Line of Control and Working Boundary, targeting even innocent civilian population living there. Despite financial constraints, he said, the government had allocated Rs 45 billion for capacity building of the civil armed forces. Earlier, a smartly turned out contingent of the cadets presented salute to Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, who also inspected the parade.
