The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and The Citizen Foundation (TCF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for their partnership to establish and run second shift schools in five Government Girls Primary Schools of Nowshera district.
The signing ceremony was held at CM Secretariat in presence of KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and the Education Minister Muhammad Atif Khan. The Additional Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Qaiser Alam and Co Founder/Director of TCF Ateed Riaz signed the MoU.
According to the details, TCF will be responsible for initiation and management of afternoon shifts in the adopted schools and it will not charge any tuition fee from students.
It will also pay for teachers and other staff and follow the curriculum and text books authorised by the KP government. Under the agreement TCF will have a student teacher ratio of 30:1 for afternoon shift schools and will also organise trainings for teachers and the schools heads.
Earlier chairing a meeting in this connection, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak appreciated TCF plans and endeavours for promoting primary education and directed the Education department and TCF to look into prospects for expanding the collaboration by handing/taking over of more schools which are under construction and near to completion throughout the province.
He asked the Education department to ensure early completion of such schools and provide a list to TCF for examining feasibility to operate them on the same terms and conditions.
Discussing various ways and means for enhancing collaboration between KP government and TCF, the CM also offered the useless hostel buildings of different colleges available throughout the province for establishing new schools under the management of TCF.
He said that the provincial government is ready to hand over considerable number of school to TCF if it was willing to assume educational responsibilities and contribute to the provincial government's efforts for providing quality education and enrolling maximum number of students.
