The prices of the essential kitchen items have witnessed a sharp increase during past week as compared to preceding week, reveals a survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Saturday. The survey observed that the price of tomatoes witnessed an increase of Rs 150 per 5 kg in wholesale market from Rs 200 per 5 kg to Rs 350 per 5 kg, while in retail market the commodity is being sold at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 45 per kg.
Potato price registered an increase by Rs 50 per 5 kg from Rs 130 per 5 kg to Rs 180 per 5 kg, which in retail market being sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 25 per kg. Onion price also went up by Rs 20 per 5 kg from Rs 180 per 5 kg to Rs 200 per 5 kg, which in retail market are being available at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 40 per kg.
Spinach is being sold at Rs 20 per kg against Rs 25 per kg, tinda price went up by Rs 10 per kg from Rs 40 per kg to Rs 50 per kg and shimla mirch went up by Rs 50 per kg from Rs 90 per kg to Rs 140 per kg and Karaila prices went up by Rs 10 per kg from Rs 50 per kg to Rs 60 per kg.
Green chilli price witnessed an increase of Rs 10 per kg from Rs 60 per kg to 70 per kg, while lemon price did not witness any change and is being sold at Rs 150 per kg. Cauliflower price went up by Rs 100 per 5 kg in wholesales market from Rs 300 per 5 kg to Rs 400 per 5 kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 60 per kg.
Price of peas went up by Rs 200 per 5 kg in wholesales market from Rs 400 per 5 kg to Rs 600 per 5 kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs 160 per kg against Rs 100 per kg, brinjal price increased by Rs 50 per 5 kg in wholesales market from Rs 200 per 5 kg to Rs 250 per 5 kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 40 per kg, bean price increased by Rs 100 per 5 kg in wholesales market from Rs 300 per 5 kg to Rs 400 per 5 kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 70 per kg.
Tori, arvi and kaddu prices remained unchanged at Rs 60 per kg, while carrot price also witnessed an increase of Rs 10 per kg from Rs 70 per kg to Rs 80 per kg. Ginger is being sold at Rs 250 per kg against Rs 200 per kg and garlic price remained stable at Rs 180 per kg. While there is no change in the prices of different spices, pulses, fresh and packed milk, different brands of rice, eggs, tea, ghee and other items. Beef is being sold at Rs 420 per kg, mutton being sold at Rs 700 per kg, wheat flour available at Rs 750 per 20 kg bag.
Live chicken price remained stable at Rs 4,800 per 40 kg which in retail market it is being sold at Rs 130 per kg while chicken meat is being sold at Rs 270 per kg. Chonsa mango price went up by Rs 20 per kg from Rs 120 per kg to Rs 140 per kg, while other quality mangoes are being sold at Rs 80-120 per kg, good quality grapes reduced by Rs 100 per kg from Rs 250 per kg to Rs 150 per kg, while the price of normal quality grapes reduced by Rs 50 per kg from Rs 150 per kg to Rs 100 per kg, different qualities of local banana are being sold in the range of Rs 60 to Rs 100 per dozen, while Indian banana is available at Rs 150 per dozen.
