The rapid increase in car thefts, robberies, dacoities, murders, dishonored cheques and other crimes in the federal Capital is negating the tall claims of police that crime rate has been restricted. According to data gathered by Business Recorder, the city police registered eight cases of robberies and dacoities, 11 cases of auto theft including motor bikes, three cases of murder and 10 cases of dishonored cheques including a bank dacoity in which armed robbers looted Rs 8 million and made good escape.
"The continued increase in crime rate showed that the high ups of city police did not make serious efforts to control various crimes despite strict directives of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan," a retired senior police official said. He said that occurrence of bank dacoity in broad day light in the presence of large number of police posts, is a big question mark over police performance. The most favourite areas for auto thieves and robbers were within the limits of Lohi Bheer, Ramana, Aabpara, Sabzi Mandi and Karachi Company police stations.
During the last week Lohi Beer police station registered two cases of robbery and one case of auto theft. Carjackers have stolen a car of Dr Muhammad Yousaf parked in front of his residence located in PWD colony.
Syed Imdad Hussain informed Lohi Beer police station that unknown robbers have stolen gold ornaments and other valuable of Rs 700,000 from his house. During another incident some robbers broke into the house of Aurangzeb and took away gold ornaments, cash and laptop worth Rs 235,000. Ramana police station registered two cases of carjacking and one case of robbery last week. Car lifters have stolen a bike of Shehzad Mehmood and lifted another bike (SR-750) of Usman Haider from Sector G-10/3.
Muhamamd Akbar of Sector G-10/3 lodged a compliant with Ramana police station that unknown robbers stormed into his house and escaped with gold ornaments, mobile, CPU and other valuable worth Rs 400,000. Auto thieves have also stolen two vehicles whereas bandits robbed a house in the limits of Aabpara police station adjacent to the Red Zone during the same period. Motor vehicle thieves have stolen a car of Nadir Ali and lifted a bike of Safiullah Khan from Sector G-6.
Khurshed Ahmad of Sector G-6/4 lodged a complaint with Aabpara police station that unknown robbers have stolen gold ornaments and other valuable from his house. Sabzi Mandi police registered one case of dishonored cheque and two cases of auto theft. Auto thieves have stolen a car of Safdar Haider in Sector I-10/2 while lifted a bike of Muhammad Shouiab Akram from the limits of the same police station.
During the last week Karachi Company police station registered one case each of robbery and auto theft. Auto thieves have stolen XLI-car of Tariq Ahmad from Sector G-9 Markaz. Aftab Ahamd informed police that the unknown robbers stormed into his house and took away LCD, camera and UPS. Kohsar police registered three cases of dishonored cheques and one case of auto theft. Auto thieves have stolen a bike of Waseem Akhatar parked in front of his house in F-6/2 located in the limits of Kohsar police station.
Maraglla police registered two cases of dishonored cheques and one case of robbery. Muhammad Faisal of sector F-8 informed Margalla police station that Nasir Ali has allegedly stolen three mobiles phone from his shop, while Shalimar police also registered two cases of dishonored cheques and a case of robbery. Syed Saleem of Sector F-11/4 lodged a complaint with Shalimar police station that unknown robbers have stolen a pistol, cash and mobile phone from his house.
Noon police station registered one case of murder, Shams Colony police station registered one case of auto theft, Industrial Area police station registered one case of dishonored cheque, Golra police station registered one case of robbery, Kana and Nilor police stations registered one case each of murder during the last week.
