The two-day 10th Pak-Afghan Joint Economic Commission meeting scheduled to be held in Islamabad on August 26-27 has been postponed without assigning any reason. The dates were finalised during a meeting between Ambassador of Afghanistan to Pakistan Janan Mosazai and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on July 22, in which Afghan Finance Minister Eklil Ahmad Hakimi and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar would have led their respective countries.
Officials said in a brief statement "Afghan Finance Minister Eklil Hakimi made a telephone call to Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Sunday morning, both the Finance Ministers discussed various issues of economic co-operation between the two countries. They also had discussion on the possibility of holding the next Pakistan- Afghanistan Joint Economic Commission meeting in Islamabad in the last quarter of this year."
It may be added that Pakistan government had already undertaken preparatory work for the JEC meeting and EAD secretary had made a detailed review of the progress on different projects and ascertained implementation status of the decision taken during the last JEC held in November last year.
The ninth session of Pakistan-Afghanistan JEC had vowed to enhance bilateral economic cooperation to promote peace and stability in the two countries.
