Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has demanded of the provincial members of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and chairman National Database and Registration (Nadra) to step down after the election tribunal decision ordering re-polling in NA-122 Lahore and a provincial constituency.
Addressing a press conference after chairing a meeting of PTI's Central Advisory Council here on Sunday, Khan said following the tribunal's verdict on NA-122, chairman Nadra and ECP members had lost the legal, moral and ethical grounds to hold their offices anymore.
He alleged that the ECP members and chairman Nadra were undoubtedly involved in the 'election cover-up' and serious irregularities, if not rigging, committed on their behest during the 2013 general elections.
He said that Nadra chairman, through his report, tried to protect the PML-N candidate. "Our party has passed a resolution in today's meeting demanding that Nadra chairman should tender his resignation," he added.
Khan said that a further course of action against the ECP members would be finalised after consultation with the PTI counsel on Monday. Commenting on NA-122 verdict, Khan said he did not have any personal grievance against NA Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, who has been de-seated by the tribunal.
"I have serious reservations over prevailing electoral system in the country," he added.
Imran Khan also announced not to contest by-poll from NA-122, saying another PTI candidate would be fielded to contest by-election.
