Provincial Minister for Irrigation and Punjab Irrigation and Drainage Authority (PIDA) Chairman Mian Yawar Zaman has said there is a need to improve Abiyana recovery for the rehabilitation and look after of canal structure and that farming organisations will have to use their powers. As he talked to senior officers at his office on Thursday, he was told about the performance of area water boards running under the management.
An important meeting was earlier held to review the performance of the farming organisations at the authority's headquarters attended by General Manager (Administration) Chaudhry Khawar Nazir, General Manager (Operation) Chaudhry Asghar Hameed, Deputy General Manager Afzal Anjam Toor, Deputy General Manager (Operation) Mian Abdul Rasheed, Deputy General Manager (Social Mobilisation) Syed Shaiq Hussain Abidi besides Chairmen Chief Executives and Managers of all area under boards.
In the meeting, participants were told about Abiyana recovery and out of it payment of government share in government exchequer besides steps taken against defaulters. Similarly, the performance of water organisations with regard to water theft and especially its checking came under discussion.
