Kenya's oil importers have bought more than 520,000 tonnes of oil products for delivery over September to October, lower than their previous purchase, industry sources said on Friday. They bought 102,399 tonnes of jet fuel, 220,900 tonnes of 50ppm sulphur gasoil and 201,800 tonnes of gasoline for delivery into Kipevu Oil Terminal, port of Mbaraki and Shimanzi Oil Terminal, the sources added.
The sellers are Gulf Energy, Total Kenya, Kencor, Gapco, Galana Oil, they said. Kenya last bought over 650,000 tonnes of oil products for delivery over July to August from Total, KenolKobil, Gapco, Vivo Energy and Galana. Kenya has been importing record volumes of oil products as its economy gathers steam, soaking up some of Asia's excess supply and helping put a floor under refining margins.
