The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) will benefit from technological expertise of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) to further develop and strengthen its system and to improve organisational efficiency for meeting targets aiming at enrolling 2.8 million mostly out-of-school and dropout children in Punjab by 2018. This was decided during a joint meeting of the Punjab Education Foundation and the Punjab Information and Technology Board officials here on Monday, with PEF Managing Director Doctor Aneela Salman in the chair.
PITB delegation was headed by Director General (IT Solutions) Waqar Naeem Qureshi. PEF programme heads also attended the meeting. The meeting reviewed in detail the foundation's public private partnership based free educational system for needy children and observed that it has been efficiently working to benefit the stakeholders. PEF Managing Director Dr Aneela said that foundation is interested to benefit from ICT based expertise of PITB so that the foundation could continue to work more efficiently. She said different ICT-based interventions had helped the foundation to efficiently serve the needy.
Giving a detail of different interventions, she said electronic register - an online monthly attendance system had been launched for schools attached with Education Voucher Scheme. The GIS mapping of partner schools has been managed to identify school deficient areas for opening new schools there. She said teachers' data has also been collected from partner schools. She further said that an efficient digital monitoring system has been evolved to ensure smooth monitoring of vast partners' network in the Punjab.
