Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmed Khan has greatly commended the role being played by the lawyer community in the society and stated that lawyers were the first professionals fighting for justice in a conflict between good and bad. He called upon the lawyers to do their level best to provide legal cover to the needy masses and ensure that legal problems of the people be removed within the shortest possible time.
He was addressing the oath taking ceremony of Kohat Bar Association at the Governor's House, Peshawar on Tuesday. Eminent figure of Kohat and Chairman BOD Pesco Malik Asad, President DBA Kohat Malik Imad Azam, Vice President Sameena Khurram, General Secretary Dr Ameer Ajam Khattak, other office-bearers of DBA, Kohat and a large number of lawyers attended the function.
Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan said that with the help of lawyers, societies become able to establish the rule of law. He said peace and prosperity could only be achieved through the rule of law and the lawyers play a significant role in peace building. He said the Kohat Bar Association had the capacity to go a long way in the solution of people's problems and development of the nation. He reminded the lawyers their responsibility to deliver high quality services to their clients and thereby contribute to the rule of law.
The governor further said that the lawyer community was playing pivotal role in the restoration of democracy in the country and fulfilment of their professional responsibilities, their share in the efforts to strengthening social values on judicious grounds and freedom of expression of the people. He said the democratic atmosphere, which prevailed alongside freedom of judiciary in the country could rightly be attributed to the services of the lawyer community. "Lawyers always provide wisdom oriented leadership to the nation in highly difficult times and returned with success," the governor added.
Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan congratulated the newly elected members of the Kohat Bar Association and assured them that he would take all necessary steps for meeting their demands. Earlier, the governor administered oath to the newly elected cabinet of the Kohat Bar Association. President of the association Malik Imad Azam presented charter of demands to the governor. General Secretary Dr Ameer Ajam Khattak also spoke on the occasion and expressed gratitude to the governor for listening to their demands so sympathetically.
