Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Senator Kamran Michael said that minorities in KPT are, for the first time, given an opportunity to perform pilgrimage of their sacred places and that it was their burning demand in the recently announced Charter of Demand of KPT CBA. He was speaking on the occasion of balloting ceremony of three "3" pilgrims to visit sacred places in Italy and India.
He said that today is a landmark occasion for minorities as Mushtaque Masih (Engineering Department) will visit the Vatican City Italy; Poonam Kumar (Engineering Department) and Chaman Kaanji (Medical Department) of the Hindu Community are visiting India and that they are given an opportunity to visit their sacred places through KPT financing for the very first time happened in the history of KPT.
He termed the initiative as true indicator of equality of rights that prevails in the biggest port of the country. The credit, he said, also goes to KPT Chairman Vice Admiral Shafqat Jawed who works efficiently under the guidelines given by his ministry and the present government.
He complimented the CBA "Workers Union" on realising the rights of minorities in KPT and said that it reflects on the good labour policies that prevail in the port which handles most of the cargo freight of the country. Earlier, the Chairman KPT Vice Admiral Shafqat Jawed also congratulated the successful minority members for winning an opportunity to visit their sacred places in Vatican City, Italy, and the two Hindus to visit India with the same cause. He termed the moment for being the most happiest in life for them and prayed for their safe journey which concluded the proceedings of the day.
