Violation of traffic rules: ITP issues 58,385 challan tickets worth Rs 17.692 million
Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have issued 58,385 challan tickets worth Rs 17.692 million to motorists for violation of different traffic rules during the month of August.
An official of ITP said on Sunday, the department was taking measures to ensure smooth traffic flow on the busy roads. He said the ITP had challaned 3,951 drivers for not using seat belt and 2,731 motorists were fined for using mobile phone during driving. Similarly, 6,528 bikers were issued challan tickets for not wearing helmet during driving in month of August.
The ITP challaned 7,567 drivers for running vehicles without driving license and 1,557 motorists were challaned for displaying fancy number plates. Likewise, 671 vehicles were challaned for using pressure horn and 648 drivers faced action due to tinted glasses of their motorcars.
He said 2,910 drivers were fined for demonstrating careless driving and 742 vehicles of public transport were fined for dropping the passengers without designated stop.
ITP issued challan tickets to 800 motorists for driving on one way, 3,767 for wrong parking, for violation of lane 1,846, and 618 fined for driving on wrong side. Traffic Police has also challaned 250 public transporters for misbehaving with passengers, 2,414 fined for disrupting traffic flow, 4,221 for overloading during last month.
