Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has said that Pakistan People's Party (PPP) is raising a great hue and cry over the Nandipur power project because a 'secret deal' between PPP and the ruling Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) no longer exists. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, he said the country is being plundered in the name of democracy, adding that army chief General Raheel Sharif's graph is rising steeply.
Imran said the country's resources are being plundered in the name of democracy. "People are dying of hunger while meetings are being held in Dubai," said Imran. Imran further said that the army chief's graph is on the rise while the people are fed up of the government. He said that his party has completely supported the army and backed the National Action Plan (NAP) as well.
"The people of Sindh are happy with the Rangers operation and the failure of Muttahida Qaumi Movement's (MQM) call for "strike is a proof of my assertion," he said, adding that he welcomed the unsavoury conclusion of a 'clandestine deal' between the PML-N and PPP. Chairman PTI demanded third-party audit of the Nandipur power project; he also demanded the audit of LNG agreements and Metro Bus project. He alleged that there was corruption in other mega projects in Punjab too. "Rangers should also conduct an operation in Punjab," Imran added.
Announcing the ouster of Zia Ullah Afridi from the party, Imran said that Zia Afridi had always rendered his services for the party but his statements in the provincial assembly were regrettable. He said that Punjab is in desperate need of action against corruption, adding that he is ready to invite authorities to take a similar action against unscrupulous elements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
"Rangers should also start an operation in Punjab, which is in need of an anti-corruption drive," Imran said. He said people of Karachi are happy that corrupt people are being arrested by law enforcement agencies, adding that Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) are trying to put political pressure on the law enforcement agencies to divert the focus from their wrong doings.
Criticising the government's plan to import Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from Qatar, he said this deal would make people forget all the corruption cases of the past. "We are very well aware who is present in Qatar and making all deals," he added. He questioned why the government is not going to make public the prices of LNG, if all process is fair. He also criticised the government for farmers' woes. Imran announced that he would hold a 'big' public meeting in Islamabad on Oct 4.
