Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said progress and prosperity of the country is the mission of Pakistan Muslim League-N government and sincere efforts have been made in this regard during past two years. He said Pakistan Muslim League-N government, under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is striving for resolution of basic problems of the people's economic situation has improved due to excellent economic policies of the government.
Shahbaz Sharif who is under severe criticism of media and opposition parties due to Nandipur Power Plant fiasco was talking to office-bearers and workers of PML-N, here on Wednesday. He said the government is sparing no effort for the welfare of the masses and it will continue to serve the people selflessly.
He said a new culture of transparency and high standard has been introduced in development projects and billion of rupees have been saved through holding successful negotiations with the lowest bidders for development projects which is unprecedented in the history of the country. Referring to the agriculture package, Shehbaz Sharif said that this package of 341 billion rupees is the guarantee to the prosperity of the farmers. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has won the hearts of the cultivators by announcing the biggest agriculture package in Pakistan's history, he added.
He said no government has so far announced such a historic relief package for the welfare of farmers. The credit for farmer-friendly package goes to PML-N government. The agri relief package is the voice of cultivators and the interests of small farmers have been given top priority under this package.
He said an attempt was made to undermine the interests of the country for the achievement of personal ends due to which precious time of the nation was wasted; the negative impacts of the sit-ins on the country are still being felt. Referring to the projects aimed at welfare of the masses, Shehbaz Sharif said that billions of rupees are being spent on welfare projects of the masses as well as provision of education, health and other basic facilities to the citizens; supply of potable water will be ensured in all tehsils of Punjab till 2017 under Saaf Pani Project and this project has been started from south Punjab.
He said billions of rupees are being spent in the current fiscal year for the uplift of rural areas under Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme and repair and rehabilitation work of rural roads will be completed with a sum of Rs 150 billion till 2017-18 under a phased programme which will bring a revolution in rural economy.
The Chief Minister further said that Punjab government of PML-N is serving the masses selflessly and the culture of merit, transparency and speedy completion of development projects has been promoted in the province. He said every penny of public money is being spent honestly on the welfare of people and no effort will be spared for changing the destiny of the nation.
