'100,000 Tevta's skilled workers will be sent to Qatar in three years'

"Getting jobs for the Tevta's skilled workers is our top priority. The authority will manage export of its trainees to Qatar. Up to 100,000 skilled workers will be sent to Qatar in three years in phases. This skilled manpower will work for the construction of stadiums, hotels and other infrastructure for the FIFA World Cup 2022," Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said this while meeting a two-member delegation of the Staff Source International in Qatar during their visit to the authority's secretariat on Wednesday.
Tevta chairperson said, "A delegation of Punjab government headed by Minister for Labour and Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, with myself and others, has already visited Qatar. The authority in the Punjab will be a major partner to help Qatar for its required skilled workforce. To ensure transparency and quality, all selected manpower will be routed through the placement cell, established at secretariat."
The authority is launching key trades as per international market demands including drivers, security guards, supervisors, machine and motor mechanic, carpenter, steel fixer, painter, mason, cook, housekeeping, plumber, welder, AC mechanics, hotel staff, computer operators, and generator operators to train the youth of the province of the Punjab, he added. Chairperson Sheikh and the delegation, with the authority's senior management, also witnessed Chinese language classes and practical work being done by the trainees at the Government Technical Training Institute in Gulberg.
