Published August 10, 2018

A partial solar eclipse is on its way for tomorrow and is going to be the third and last one in 2018.

August 11 will witness a partial solar eclipse where the moon will cover a part of the sun, instead of the whole. The solar eclipse will be this year’s third, but the last one.

As per Times Now, the partial solar eclipse will be seen for duration of 3 hours and 30 minutes. Due to the smaller shadow of the moon, most part of the sun will be visible. The eclipse will be visible from all major parts of the Northern Hemisphere.

NASA suspects that the visibility will be limited to northern Canada, north-eastern US, Siberia, Scandinavia, Greenland and some parts of central Asia including China. The eclipse will begin at around 09:02am GMT and will continue till 12:32pm GMT.

A solar eclipse is a celestial phenomenon that occurs when the moon comes in front of the sun, blocking its path and stopping sunlight from reaching Earth. A partial one happens when the moon only covers a part of the solar disk, thus the day won’t turn dark. Last partial solar eclipse was witnessed on July 13 this year and the next will be witnessed next year January 6.

Also, it is not safe to watch the eclipse with bare eyes, thus specific glasses are made to witness the event and protect eye damage.
