The Constructors Association of Pakistan (CAP) has elected Naeemuddin Siddiqui, Chief Executive Officer, Ziauddin Ahmad and Company (Pvt) Ltd, Karachi unopposed as Chairman for 2015-2016. "Naeemuddin Siddiqui has served the association twice previously as vice chairman (Sindh)," said CAP spokesman here on Thursday. Sardar Muhammad Ishaq Khan has been elected as Senior Vice Chairman, Zahidul Hassan Qureshi as Vice Chairman (Punjab), engineer Syed Iqbal Yunas as Vice Chairman (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Muhammad Gulzar Shah as Vice Chairman Balochistan and Saifullah Zia as Vice Chairman Islamabad Region unopposed.
The association is the representative association of the construction sector in the country interacting with national and international agencies for resolution of issues and improvement of project delivery system in the country. In a speech Naeemuddin Siddiqui said the construction is the largest sector of Pakistan's economy after agriculture, with the gross output about 10 percent of GDP which made it larger than the textile sector.
He said the association should play an important role in developing project management expertise in the country to help on time completion of projects while improving standard compliance. Zafarullah Khan and Abdul Karim Khadim, Ayub Sabir Izhar, M S Asad Mukhtar, Arif Raza Kazmi, Haji Fazal Kadir Khan Sherani, Chaudhry Muhammad Habib Kanwal, Muhammad Saeed Shamsi, Arshad Dad, Muhammad Adnan Waheed, Sardar Muhammad Ashraf Shoukat Khan, Najam ul Haq Najmi, were elected as executive committee members from corporate class. While Afzalur Rahman, Ahmed Ghazal Usmani, Haji Zahir Khan, Muhammad Shafiq, Abdul Latif, Hammad Islam Choudhry, Khawaja Shoaib Mohi Uddin and Imran Abbas Awan were elected from associate class.
