Provincial Education Minister for Education and Sports Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has said that Punjab Education Department (PED) has decided that after the provision of free text books, school bags will also be provided to the girl and boy students free of cost.
These bags will be distributed among about ten million children by Punjab Text Book Board. Stationery boxes and note books will also be provided along with text books in these bags. This revolutionary programme of Punjab Education Department will reflect the educational vision of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and will result in reducing the financial burden on the parents as well as promoting interest of study among the students.
The Provincial Minister said that a committee has been set up for implementing this project and it is hoped that Education Department Punjab will start providing bags to the students in the beginning of next academic year. This was stated by Provincial Education Minister while presiding a meeting here Thursday. Chairman Punjab Text Board Nawazish Ali, Special Secretary Schools Ahmed Ali Kamboh, Dr Farukh Naveed and other officers were present on the occasion. Rana Mashhood said that provision of free texts books to the students has played an important role in the promotion of education and enhancing literacy rate in Punjab, similarly, the decision of the Punjab government to provide schools bags to the students will also help in implementation of the Chief Minister's Programme "Parho Punjab, Barho Punjab".
The Provincial Minister stressed the need of implementation of the project of distribution of magazine 'Teen Times' in schools on monthly basis at the earliest. He said that this magazine will help in polishing the creative abilities of talented students instead of appointment them correspondent of the magazine and learning the lessons by rot.
