Satellite navigation company Garmin has safety for car and bicycle drivers in mind with its newest dash cams. Attached to a car's windshield, the Dash Cam 35 can record information about accidents in full HD quality, along with location information and interior noises. It can also warn drivers with noises and blinking from its 3-inch display if the driver is too close to another car.
For the bicycle, there's the Varia, which can use its own display or be coupled with Garmin's Edge bike computer. It lets bicyclists know when a car coming from behind is getting too close.
Indeed, a car driving too close will prompt the rear light to get brighter to make the bicycle more visible.
The Dash Can 35 costs 200 euros (224 dollars), as does the version of Varia consisting solely of the rear light warning system. Bundling the rear light and the handlebar display costs 300 euros.
