Security plan for Eid-ul Azha chalked out

The city police have chalked out a security plan for Eid-ul-Azha to head off any untoward incident on Eid (September 25).
A police official said that the city police have devised comprehensive strategy to ensure effective patrolling in different sectors for protection of lives and property of the masses during Eid holidays.
Under the security plan, more than 3,500 policemen would be deployed in different parts of the city. Police officials have been assigned security duties at 824 places including 796 mosques, 21 Imambargahs and 7 open places, he said.
He said that the security plan was devised during a special meeting presided over by Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Tahir Alam Khan and attended by SSP (Operations) Sajid Kiani, SP investigation Captain Muhammad Ilyas (retd), SP Saddar Zone Rizwan Umar Gondal, SP city Zone Ahmed Iqbal, SP Industrial Area zone Yasar Afradi, SP Rural zone Dr Syed Mustaf Tanver, all SDPOs and SHOs.
He said that special security arrangements had been made for Faisal Masque. The meeting decided that special police pickets would be erected around the Faisal Mosque, he maintained.
The official said that bomb disposal squad would conduct checking of various areas and parking will not be allowed near worship places or congregations. Additional contingent of police will be deployed at main shopping centers and markets including Super Jinnah, Super market, F-10 and Aabpara markets. Policemen have been assigned duties at bus stands, graveyards and railway stations, he added.
He said that under the plan policemen would patrol in various sectors and contingents of Pakistan Rangers and police commandos will assist police in security duties. Police teams have been constituted for patrolling in various urban sectors and rural areas.
He said that keeping in view the rush of visitors at public places, security measures have also been taken at Shakarparian, Daman-e-Koh, Yasmin Garden, Manal Restaurant, Lake View Park, Chattar Park and Centuras.
Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) cops will perform duties at various places including worship places, parks and important boulevards.
