Equities registered more gains on the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) amid ascending transaction volume on Thursday. The LSE-25 index gained 50.51 points to close at 5454.74 against 5404.23 of Wednesday while transaction volume was increased to 839,000 shares compared with previous volume of 539,700 shares. According to brokers, the market players opted for buying in selective scrips which led the market in upward direction. Investment in selective scrips can bring profit for the investors.
Hascol Petroleum Limited, Al Shaheer Corporation Limited, Pak Elektron Limited, Mughal Iron & Steel Industries Limited, Maple Leaf Cement Factory Limited, Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited, Engro Polymer & Chemicals Limited, Fauji Cement Company Limited, Dewan Farooq Motors Limited and Dewan Cement Limited registered gains while Japan Power Generation Limited and NIB Bank Limited were closed in minus column.
The gainers were much ahead with the losers, as out of a total of 63 companies, 19 showed strength and were closed in green zone, only 02 suffered loss, while 42 companies stayed unchanged at their previous levels. Among the gainers, Hascol Petroleum Limited gained Rs 8.98, Al Shaheer Corporation Limited was appreciated by Rs 3.90, Pak Elektron Limited was improved by Rs 3.50 while Mughal Iron & Steel Industries Limited, Maple Leaf Cement Factory Limited, Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited, Engro Polymer & Chemicals Limited, Fauji Cement Company Limited, Dewan Farooq Motors Limited and Dewan Cement Limited were up by Rs 2.83, Rs 2.21, Rs 1.05, Re 1.00, paisa-75, paisa-45 and paisa-35, respectively.
Japan Power Generation Limited shed paisa-02 while NIB Bank Limited lost paisa-01. The volume leader of the day included the SilkBank Limited with 378,000 shares, Worldcall Telecom Limited with 105,000 shares and Fauji Cement Company Limited with 104,000 shares.
