Chairman Technical Advisory Group (TAG) Jean Marc Separe called on Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amjad Ali Khan and Additional Chief Secretary FATA Muhammad Aslam Kambo and appreciated the measures taken by the government for ensuring safe and conducive environment to the frontline workers that resulted in marked decrease in polio cases in KP and FATA. The TAG chairman remained with the chief secretary for some time and thanked them for their ownership of the programme from top hierarchy to the low level, according to press release issued here on Friday.
Earlier, Jean Marc visited Emergency Operation Center (EOC) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA where he was given detailed briefings on polio eradication initiative, Continuous Community Protected Vaccination (CCPV) and new approaches to cover the continuously missed children.
Present on the occasion were Secretary Health KP Mushtaq Jadoon, DC Peshawar Riaz Mehsud, EOC Co-ordinator Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Akbar Khan, EOC Co-ordinator National EOC Dr Safdar Rana, DHOs of high risk districts and representatives of health department, UNICEF, WHO and BMGF. Jean Marc appreciated the newly introduced initiative of Continuous Community Protected Vaccination (CCPV) that was launched in Peshawar, Bannu, Tank, Khyber Agency, FR Bannu and North Waziristan agency for the September round of anti-polio drive. He hoped that with the new CCPV approach in place now in the high risk districts and agencies of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata the number of missed children would decrease and areas that were inaccessible earlier would be accessed now.
