KBD issue of life, death: Sherpao

Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Central chairman, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said the Kalabagh Dam (KBD), is issue of life and death for Pakhtuns, which couldn't be acceptable to them, saying the government is raising such non-serious issues to divert attention of masses from the real problems, being confronted the country.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, QWP chief said that PML-N is using KBD issue for political scoring. He furthermore said the federal government is trying an unsuccessful attempt by running political campaign on this controversial issue. He said Kalabagh dam was a dead horse, which cannot be given life.
Sherpao said the provincial legislative assemblies of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan, had unanimously adopted resolutions against the construction of KBD. Therefore, he expressed fear that the raising such controversial issue again and again, would be harmful for federation.
"There were serious concerns of three-federating units on building of controversial Kalabagh Dam", QWP chief said. He added that the raising KBD issue again and again, would further increase hatred and frustration among the masses.
QWP chairman said the issue of Kalabagh Dam has been ended forever, but PML-N is trying to fail attempt to keep alive this death horse through certain tactics, which would be dangerous process. He criticised that Federal government had completely failed to provide any sort of relief to the masses, due to which people are much frustrated with performance of incumbent rulers, he added.
Aftab Sherpao said the federal government is raising such non-serious issues to divert attention of masses from real problems. He expressed his regret that government has put Munda dam project in cold storage, which is catalyst to social and economic development of Pakhtuns, as amount allocated in Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), is reflecting non-seriousness on part of the government, he added.
He demanded the Munda dam should be prioritised by allocation of sufficient amount for it. He said the construction for Munda dam would not only prevent dangers of floods, but also provide water storage capacity, and increase electricity generation.
