WWF-Pakistan and Pepsi-Cola International (Pvt) Limited signed a MoU to implement the Green Office Initiative at the one of latter's plant situated in Sundar Industrial Estate here the other day. The agreement was signed by Dr Masood Arshad, Director Climate, Energy and Water WWF-Pakistan and Ameer Taimur Zaid, Plant Manager, Pepsi-Cola International (Pvt) Limited.
Speaking on this occasion Dr Arshad said, "WWF-Pakistan emphasises building partnerships with stakeholders and believes that the environmental issues of Pakistan cannot be solved by one organization only. Therefore it is important to commit to an integrated approach to ensure active participation of everyone." The implementation of the green office programme will help Pepsi-Cola International reduce carbon emissions from its office at the plant site.
The green office team of WWF-Pakistan will liaise with Pepsi-Cola International to devise an environment management system to cut back on the use of resources such as electricity, paper and water. The Green Office Initiative is geared towards bringing about a behavioural change in member offices, therefore regular trainings and workshops will be conducted to raise awareness amongst Pepsi-Cola's employees to ensure effective implementation of the programme.
