Five Pakistani high school teachers from Gwadar port region will arrive in Karamay, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region this month for five months of training in Chinese language and teaching skills. Under a co-operation agreement inked with Pakistan's Gwardar authority, Karamay will start training courses for teachers from Gwardar in a move to boost its education development.
The first group of the Pakistani teachers will take their courses in the International Division of Karamay High School, where they will learn multi-media teaching methods and basic Chinese language, and gain an overview of Chinese culture. Moreover, Canadian teachers of Karamay High School will also be invited to join some training courses. This will be an opportunity for teachers from three countries to discuss teaching philosophies under different cultural backgrounds.
In addition to teaching training, high schools in Gwardar and Karamay plan to launch more exchange programs for students. "Karamay is a charming city. The transformation from a desert into a modernised city, is simply amazing. We want to learn from your experience of such a huge transformation and we hope Gwadar can achieve similar progress with the help of Karamay," said the head of Gwadar's development bureau during their meeting with Karamay leaders. Gwadar Development Bureau in Pakistan, signed a 'sister city agreement' in the presence of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in April this year.
