Ban on hunting of Houbara Bustard: Federation files review appeal in Supreme Court
The federal government on Wednesday filed a review petition in the Supreme Court against ban on hunting Houbara Bustard. The Additional Attorney General Aamir Rehman filed petition in the apex court on behalf of the federal government and pleaded before the court that there was room for reviewing the earlier decision of the court.
He said International Convention did not prohibit the hunting of Houbara Bustard. Hunting of wildlife was a fundamental right for biological diversity. He said there are some facts in whose light the matter could be re-considered and pleaded to the court to review its previous decision. The provincial governments of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan also filed petitions in the apex court against hunting of Houbara Bustard.
