Federal Minister for Commerce Engr. Khurram Dastagir Khan on Wednesday directed Chairman, Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) Rizwan Ahmed Shaikh to transform the largest chain of godowns in Asia located here according to the demands of 21st century.
With upgradation and modernisation of these godowns at Pipri area of the city now owned and managed by TCP, the agricultural products would be properly protected from perishing, the minister said adding that Pakistan is an agricultural country and it needs a highly sophisticated godowns network.
The Minister expressed these views during his visit to TCP godowns. The Minister also visited the TCP Headquarters, where he was briefed that the TCP godowns at Pipri was the largest facility in Asia which is spread over more than 6,500 acres. This chain constructed around fifty years back comprised 216 house godowns and 100 round-shaped ones.
