It is quite heartening to note that finally Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Airline Pilots Association (Palpa) have reached consensus and finalised a draft agreement to resolve the outstanding issues between the management and association. According to media reports, a protracted meeting between PIA management and pilots' association led to the resolution of all the outstanding issues and the management has reportedly agreed on the implementation of a working agreements.
The pilots' protest has already cost a huge financial loss to a beleaguered public-sector entity, PIA. It has also caused a great deal of inconvenience to passengers. The situation therefore underscores the need for avoiding the repeat of such or similar situations. It also warrants the sell-off of this white elephant, PIA, without any further loss of time.
