Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) on Friday arrested some 35 accused including five activists of a political party during raids conducted in different areas of Karachi. Police said that the arrests were made from different parts of metropolis including Liaquatabad, Shah Faisal Colony, Mangopir, Sultanabad, Landhi, Nusrat Bhutto Colony, and Orangi Town. The arrested accused were allegedly involved in different crimes such as target killings, extortion, and attacks on traffic policemen and other law enforcers.
It may be mentioned here that half a dozen traffic policemen were killed and several others injured in a series of armed attacks in different parts of the city during the last two months, prompting the authorities to equip the traffic wardens with weapons.
