Over 12 cases of armed robberies, burglaries and auto theft, cost the residents of the federal capital eight vehicles including bikes besides million of rupees in cash during the last week. According to data gathered by Business Recorder, the cases of robberies, purse-snatching, auto theft, kidnapping and dishonoured cheques witnessed a rise as 12 cases of robberies, eight cases of auto theft, two cases of kidnapping of women and 11 cases of fake cheques were reported to the various police stations of the capital during the last week.
Although, police high-ups are making tall claims regarding effective action against criminal gangs activities in the city but no step has so far been taken to reduce crimes in the metropolis. During the last week, Ramana police station registered one case each of robbery and auto theft and two cases of dishonored cheques. Gulam Zakia of sector G-10/3 informed Ramana police station that armed robbers stole cash, gold ornament, a mobile phone, a laptop from her house.
Auto theft lifted a bike (DR-946) of Asif Mukhtar from the limits of the same police station. Industrial area police station registered five cases of fake cheques and two cases of auto theft. Thieves stole an FX car (IDB-7404) of Nasar Amad and a Corolla car ET-396 of Asad Saleem Butt from the limits of same police station. In the same period, Sabzi Mandi police station registered three cases of auto theft and a robbery and a case of dishonoured cheques.
Auto thieves lifted a bike (GR-308) from sector I-11/4 located in the limits of Sabzi Mandi police station. In another incident, three unknown armed persons snatched a bike (RIL-8583) and cash of Rs 42000 from Ali Muhammad in sector I-11/1. Similarly, Sher Wali of sector I-11/1 informed Sabzi Mandi police station that three unknown armed persons snatched his bike (ACM-423) and cash of Rs 53,000 from him at gunpoint.
One case each of robbery, auto theft and fake cheque was reported to Secretariat police station during last week. Unknown robbers stole cash of Rs 45,000 from the car of Tariq Khan parked at sector F-6 and auto thief lifted a Mehran car (QG-901) of Aftab Ahmad of Rs 3,50,000 from the jurisdiction of the same police station. Two cases of robberies were reported to Shehzad Town police station during last week. Abdul Hameed Khan informed Shehzad Town police station that unknown robbers stole gold ornaments, cash and other valuables from his house of worth Rs 1, 80,000.
During another incident, armed dacoits entered Abdullah Shah's house and made off cash, gold ornaments, a laptop and one camera from his house. Karachi Company police station registered one case each of robbery and auto theft. Auto theft stole a bike - ATA-655 - of Baber Ali from the limits of Karachi company police station. Muhammad Saleem Khan of sector G-8/3 lodged a complaint with Karachi Company police station that two male along with a female snatched gold ornaments costing of Rs 100,000 from his wife.
During last week, Shams Colony police station registered a case of robbery and kidnapping. Bashir Ahmad lodged a compliant with Shams Colony police station that armed robbers entered his house and took away gold ornaments, prize bonds of Rs 174,000. Mukhtar Ahamd lodged a complaint with the same police station that unknown persons have kidnapped his daughter. Koshar registered one case of auto theft and four cases of a cheque dishonoring. PS Shalimar registered one case of carjacking while Bara Kahu, Khana and Margalla police registered one case of robbery during last week.
