Amidst fireworks and beautiful displays of athleticism from gymnasts and aspiring young yogis, the 3rd Inter-School All-Girls sports tournament was inaugurated today at the Dawood Public School (DPS). Following the launch, over 450 students from 22 leading O and A Level educational institutes will participate in different table tennis and throw ball competitions, which will be held from October 11-15. This all-girls competition will be held for the third consecutive year with double the participation scale since its first edition in 2013.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the representatives of the competing schools, the participants and members of the national Special Olympics children's team. Sabrina Dawood, Trustee, DPS, said, "At DPS, we place a great emphasis on the extracurricular activities of our students as we believe it is important to raise well-rounded individuals who develop a variety of skills. Considering we are an all-girls school, we feel it is especially important to provide diverse avenues of development to our students as it is essential that young girls are offered the same opportunities for personal growth as their male peers." DPS was established in 1983 by Ahmed Dawood and has since become one of the leading schools in Karachi with current enrollment of over 2,000 students. The school is one of the operational projects of The Dawood Foundation.-PR
