Imtiaz Rastgar, former CEO of Engineering Development Board, Federal Ministry of Industries said that government must promote engineering sector of Pakistan by granting incentives such as tariff facilitation, market expansion and policy making for the growth of the engineering sector.
During his tenure, several special initiatives were given, including free grant of licences for assembly of motor cycles and tri-wheelers. This resulted in boosting local production of two wheelers from 450,000 in 2004 to 2.2 million in subsequent years and reduction of prices by 50 percent. He was delivering his speech at a seminar jointly organised by MCCI and Rastgar company here on Sunday and presided over by Mian Iqbal Hassan former President of Multan Chamber. He said that SME companies with their export marketing plans and training became active exporters. We have a solid network of international stakeholders. Our contribution consists of sustainable strengthening of the competitive capacity of SME exporters and producers in developing countries, focusing primarily on European markets. Mian Iqbal Hassan said that Multan has a big potential in agricultural sector and businessmen of this land are ready to jump into global market to achieve their objectives.
He said, "CBI contributes to sustainable economic development in developing countries through the expansion of exports from these countries."
