The business community of South Punjab has vehemently condemned the cancellation of operation of Samjhota Express twice a week. They also hailed historic speech delivered by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, at the UN General Assembly reminding the world community, especially the United Nations, its failures in resolving the Kashmir dispute.
They said that Pakistan Prime Minister's address was a clear proof of the fact that Pakistan wanted peaceful and cordial relations with its neighbours. Mian Fareed Mughis A Sheikh, President of Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) said that India should understand that it could not dictate terms to its neighbour and that stubbornness in no way could help ensure peace in the region. He urged New Delhi to take steps towards resolving all disputes in accordance with the diplomatic norms.
Fareed termed the address of Nawaz Sharif in the UNGA as realistic and reflective of the facts. He said that this approach was the need of the situation and was aimed to end the enmity, hostility and extremism. He appealed to the international community to prevail upon India to halt its state terrorism in occupied Kashmir and implement the relevant UN resolutions on Kashmir.
He said that the PM address to the UN General Assembly reflected aspirations of people. He said the PM put across the message of regional peace during his address. MCCI President said Pakistan has rendered great sacrifices in the war against terror and this is being acknowledged by the international community. He said Pakistan has played an important role in making the world secure through its contribution in the fight against terrorism.
Ata Shafi Tanvir Sheikh Senior Vice President said this is the bolder stance in the present situation which will provide a solid ground for the resolution of Kashmir issue. He hoped that Indian leadership would give a positive response in the interest of progress and prosperity of South Asia. Maj Tariq Khan (retd) Vice President of MCCI said the Prime Minister's endeavour to promote peace in the region will help to reduce poverty and improve the living standard of people of South Asia. He said that Nawaz Sharif effectively presented the Kashmir issue, cease-fire violations of India in front of the world body.
