Religious scholars, Ulemas, belonging different schools of thoughts in a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah Tuesday pledged to maintain sanctity and demonstrate, religious harmony, brotherhood during observance of Muhram-ul-Haram throughout province.
The participants of the meeting were of the view that all Muslims are brothers but apprehension that third element (enemy) may take the advantage of the situation and attempts to sabotage the peaceful atmosphere, that has been maintained in the province with hard work and sacrifices by Sindh Police, Rangers and LEAs and they committed to defeat such elements by demonstrating unity, discipline among their ranks and following the code of conduct issued by Sindh Government in letter & spirit. Addressing the meeting the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that there is law of land to protect the basic rights of each individual.
He said that as per code of conduct and these laws, no one will be allowed to deliver hate speeches or distribute material objectionable to others. He said that delivering hate speeches or provocating material is crime which is supposed to be trial in ATC. He said that laws of land were always indiscriminative and equal for all. He pointed out that he has asked all stakeholders to follow these laws in letter & sprite.
The Chief Minister said that it was the duty of government to maintain law & order during the Majalises, mourning processions, from 1st Muharram to Chehlum and added that we need full co-operation from all religious scholars belonging to different schools of thoughts in this regard. The Chief Minister Sindh said that his Government was not against the Madaras that are providing Islamic teaching to their students, but we are against the Terrorists who according to him doesn't belong to any religion but are enemy of humanity. He said that we have law, rules and regulation even for Government schools similarly we want to bring all Madaras under same law by registering them. The Chief Minister Sindh said that we have brought law & order under control in whole Sindh including Karachi.
He maintained that now we are developing Karachi to bring back its old glories but need co-operation from all stake holders. Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that Ulemas can play vital role in maintaining brotherhood & peacefull atmosphere. The Chief Minister Sindh said that we have respect and honour to each religious sect within the frame of law. He infomred that the purpose of present meeting was to get feedback from scholars of different school of thoughts and get their support.
Referring to the presentation made by different Ulemas in the meeting, the Chief Minister Sindh announced 1st Muhram as holiday on account of Yoom-e-Shahadat Hazrat Ummar Farooq (R.A) in Karachi. He also agreed to the participants to provide compensation to martyrs Ulemas or students of their Madaras and asked the Ulemas to provide copy of FIR and other relevant evidence of martyrs to concerned DIG whose parents get compensation from the government.
