The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Wednesday approved the Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded Sindh Provincial Roads Improvement Project (SPRIP). The project aimed to extend and improve the six provincial roads having total length of 328 kilometers at an estimated cost of Rs 19780 million and directed the executing authority to complete the construction work by the end of 2017. This he decided while presiding over meeting regarding implementation on SPRIP held at Chief Minister House.
The Senior Minister for Finance, Planning and Development Syed Murad Ali Shah, Additional Chief Secretary P&D Ejaz Ali Khan, Secretary to CM Alumuddin Bullo, Secretary Finance Sohail Rajput, Secretary Work and Services Ejaz Memon, Additional Secretary W&S Syed Zahid Hussain Shah and other officers of concerned departments, attended the meeting.
The Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah during the meeting was briefed that six important provincial roads including Thull to Kandh Kot having length up to 44 kilo meters, Sheranpur to Ratodero with 36 km, Khyber to Sanghar via Tando Adam 64 km, Sanghar to Mirpurkhas via Sindh 63 km Tando Muhammad Khan to Badin 66 km and Digri to Naukot having length 54 km would be improved and extended. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that better communication network not only to facilitate the people for transportation but also creates the income and employment opportunities especially for the farming community of the concerned areas. He said that Sindh government would soon launch another mega development project in roads sector, to improve the Nawabshah to Sanghar and Hyderabad to Tando Muhammad Khan roads under public-private partnership (PPP) mode of investment in addition to its other ADP schemes of roads to facilitate the people and enhance the volume of business in the areas concerned.
Sindh Minister for Finance and Planning and Development Syed Murad Ali Shah while briefing the meeting, said that SPRIP has also been got cleared from the CDWP on August 31, 2015. He said that as per soft loan agreement, ADB will share 87 percent of the project cost whereas 13 percent would be provided by Sindh Government. The Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Ejaz Ali Khan, while briefing the meeting said that Asian Development Bank (ADB) has been agreed to provide soft loan in appreciation of Sindh Government performance and successfully completion of flood emergency reconstruction project within its due time and cost.
