Country's first double-decker tourist buses, a project of the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP), will start a weeklong trial run in the provincial metropolis from October 27, TDCP Managing Director Ahmar Malik said this while talking to Business Recorder, here on Thursday.
He said buses have already arrived in the city and the service has been named as "Sightseeing Lahore." Nevertheless, the trial run and formal inauguration of the service has been delayed because of Muharram, he said and hoped that the service will be formally in operation for the visitors from next month.
Regarding the route of the proposed sightseeing service, Ahmar Malik said it is yet to be finalised but different options are being considered. He said there is also a proposal to use some portion of metro bus service route. It is worth mentioning that the TDCP had announced to start international standard tourist bus service under Sightseeing Lahore project. The corporation has imported two tailor-made double-decker buses from China. Each bus has a capacity to accommodate 67 passengers.
