Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) President and former Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has called for electing the National Assembly Speaker unanimously. Talking to his party leaders at his Gulberg residence here on Thursday, Shujaat said that the office of the National Assembly Speaker is of great importance, if NA speaker is elected unanimously, he would not be seen as representative of a single.
In this regard, he said, all parliamentary parties must be taken into confidence so that the elected speaker can work with confidence, he emphasised. Shujaat Hussain further said the office of NA speaker should be above party politics so that all assembly members have full confidence in him. Nevertheless, for running the House in a successful manner, the NA speaker should have patience and tolerance while he must give all the members appropriate time so that they could talk about their constituencies and national issues openly.
The PML-Q Chief said that in the country's history, office of the NA Speaker is of high importance, his decisions make history as such it will be appropriate, if the NA Speaker is elected after consulting all the parliamentary parties unanimously. Moreover, Shujaat discussed party affairs with the activists and exhorted upon them to focus their energies for strengthening the party.
