An earthquake of 8.1 magnitude jolted the South Punjab, here on Monday. Local Met office said that tremor triggered panic among the masses as people came out of their houses and offices in Multan, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur, Khanewal, Dera Ghazi Khan.
DCO Multan Zahid Saleem Gondal said that boundary walls of some schools and dilapidated homes in walled city were badly damaged. Ten students were injured in Sargodha town. Tremors were felt in Multan, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur, Khanewal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Kotadu, Alipur, Sadiqabad and other cities of South Punjab.
According to Director Earthquake Division Zahid Rafiq, the epicentre of the earthquake recorded 200 kilometres deep north of Pakistan.
