FBR urged to extend date for tax returns

Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) has requested the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the date for filing the income tax returns and statements of final taxation for a month. In a letter sent to the chairman FBR, KTBA said that majority of taxpayers and tax practitioners would not be able to file their returns and statements of final taxation by October 31, 2015, due to various reasons including Ashura holidays when internet and mobiles phone services were suspended and the main business hub of the city was closed for security reasons.
Keeping this in view, the KTBA has requested to extend the date for filing the income tax returns and statements of final taxation till November 30, 2015 and make all taxpayers and tax practitioners enabled to file returns/statements in time.
