In a bid to attract foreign investment, the Board of Investment (BoI), the top investment promotion agency, is organizing a two-day-long 'Pakistan Investment Conference 2015' in Islamabad on November 4-5. An official of the BoI told Business Recorder that around 137 foreign delegates confirmed their participation in the investment conference. Foreign Investors are showing keen interest in investment in various sectors of the economy particularly in energy sectors.
The official maintained that the number of foreign investors would likely to reach 200 as more and more inquiries are coming about the investment. The delegates from China, US, UK, EU and central Asian countries have confirmed their participation in the conference. It will be the second investment conference being held by BoI. The board organized an International Investment Conference in Islamabad in October last year.
The conference is expected to be attended by 200 prominent foreign and local investors/businesspersons, decision-makers and experts. The conference programme includes comprehensive presentations, papers, speeches, which will highlight the policy parameter, incentives and opportunities for investment in Pakistan. It would be inaugurated by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. President Mamnoon Hussain is likely to host a dinner in the honour of conference participants.
The conference will provide a forum for discussion, interaction and exchange of ideas among the prominent local and foreign investors, decision-makers (federal ministers & secretaries), experts and the international development partners. It will provide an opportunity for businessmen/investors of participating countries and local investors to interact with each other and explore joint venture business/investment opportunities in various sectors ie energy, oil and gas, privatisation, roads and infrastructure, agriculture and livestock, mining and minerals and other areas of mutual interest etc. The boarding and lodging expense will be borne by the participants themselves.
