Korean Ambassador Dr Song Jong Hwan has expressed deep grief over the devastated earthquake that jolted Pakistan specially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday and pledged support to the affected families through international organisations. Korean envoy was on a visit to Peshawar where he visited Honounrary Consulate and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KPCCI) and met businessmen. Commercial Attaché Park Bong Su and Eun Sang Jo also accompanied him during the visit.
Other present on the occasion were Senator Ilyas Ahmed Bilour, Mohammad Sarwar Mohmand, Zulfiqar Ali Khan, President KPCCI Jamshed Savul, Dr Tariq Jabbar, Ghulam Noorani and Fawad Ishaq. While speaking to local businessmen at Honourary Korean Consulate, Korean ambassador affirmed that their country is anxious in strengthening bilateral trade and economic relations with Pakistan and particularly offered facilitations to business community.
The ambassador told that Korean firms are investing in various sectors, particularly in hydropower generation in the Pakistan. He also highlighted the prospects for enhanced mutually-beneficial collaboration in diverse fields. He also spoken of the possibilities of cooperation in the areas of industrial development, hydro power generation, livestock and agro based industries.
He underlined the importance of regular exchange of experts and academics in related fields to intensify cooperation in the agreed areas and expressed the hope that trade relations between both countries would be further strengthened in the coming days. He appreciated the efforts of Afan Aziz, Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for his active work and facilitation provided to both Pakistani and Korean citizens.
During visit to the Honorary Korean Consulate, he also inaugurated the website of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and planted sapling of araucaria in the lawn of the consulate and presided over a flag-hoisting ceremony. Earlier, on his arrival, the ambassador and other staff of the embassy were received by Afan Aziz.
