Kashmiris across the Line of Control (LoC) observed Black Day against the Indian occupation of Kashmir amid a renewed pledge to continue their struggle for the right to self-determination. Prime Minister of Azad Jammu & Kashmir said here on Tuesday that the people of Jammu & Kashmir would not accept the illegal occupation of their motherland.
He was addressing a mammoth protest public rally held at Shaheed Chowk in Mirpur to mark black day against the continued forcible and illegal occupation of Jammu & Kashmir since last 68 years. Protest rallies and processions besides public congregations were the hallmark of the Black Day in all small and major towns at either side of the Line of Control, he said.
The Prime Minister said that by observing October 27 as black day the people of Jammu & Kashmir reiterated to the international community of their complete dissociation and hatred against the Indian occupation. The AJK Prime Minister recalled that this day 68 years ago in 1947, India occupied the state of Jammu & Kashmir by forcibly landing troops at Srinagar airport against the aspirations of the people of the state and there by violation all international norms and commitments.
Heads of various private and public sector institutions including Vice Chancellor Mirpur University (MUST) Professor Habibur Rehman, Commissioner Mirpur Division Raja Amjad Pervez Ali Khan, Commissioner Mangla Dam Resettlement Organisation Chaudhry Muhammad Tayyab, Director General Mangla Dam Housing Authority Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ahmed, Director General PID AJK Raja Azhar Iqbal, DC Amjad Iqbal, SSP Irfan Salim and heads of other national-building institutions also attended the protest rally.
Prime Minister AJK urged upon the world community to take immediate notice of the continued hostile attitude of India trying to escape from the peaceful solution of Kashmir dispute through traditional aggressive posture in form of the ongoing unprovoked firing and violations of the cease-fire on the LoC and the Working Boundary. He urged India to immediate withdraw her troops from occupied Jammu & Kashmir to pave the way for holding of the plebiscite in the State under the auspices of the United Nations for settlement of Kashmir dispute.
