Korea is helping Pakistan to achieve the miracle of the Indus River with the Economic Development Co-operation Fund (EDCF), stated Dr Song Jong-Hwan Ambassador of South Korea at Rotary Club Islamabad Cosmopolitan. He said EDCF framework agreement amounting to $500 million was signed on October 2, 2015, adding under which various projects in road infrastructure, agriculture, information, technology and health sector would be completed.
"Additionally, a number of grant projects are being undertaken by KOICA-Korean Development Agency. Korea is also providing scholarships to Pakistani students to study in Korea," he further said. He maintained that Korea was trying to increase co-operation with Pakistan through the KSP - the knowledge sharing programme - which was consists of policy research, development consultation and capacity building projects. He said KSP sought to assist development partner countries to advance their socio-economic development goals. "Pakistan was included in the list of the partner countries in 2010 and eight projects have been completed so far," he added.
