Star batsman Kumar Sangakarra is the latest player to sign up with the Pakistan Super League (PSL), making himself available for the player draft set to take place in December, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Tuesday. Former Sri Lankan captain, Sangakarra, who was the second-highest run-scorer at the ICC World Cup 2015 with 541 runs in seven innings, retired from international cricket in August 2015.
In an illustrious international career, Sangakarra scored 28,016 runs across the three formats, announcement, added. Sangakarra brings a lot of experience to the PSL draft, having played 594 international matches. The PSL will take place between 4-24 February 2016 in Dubai and Sharjah, with five city-based franchises set to take part. Teams from Quetta, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, and Islamabad will take part in the first edition. "Sangakarra is a world-class sportsman and we are excited to welcome him on board. He brings a wealth of experience to the PSL. His inclusion makes the player draft even more exciting," Chairman Governing Council, Najam Sethi, said.
