The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association Aamir Fayyaz has said that a group of Association members have contributed to set up 200 beds emergency of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology.
He said a trust has been constituted with the name of Friends of Punjab Institute of Cardiology under the aegis of APTMA. This trust was formed in January 2015 with an objective to construct a new emergency department.
He said the number of beds will increase to 200 beds from the present strength of 15 beds.
"The construction of this state of the art extension of the emergency started in April to be completed in January," he added.
He said the new emergency block would introduce the primary angioplasty in the shape of a Cath-Lab for the first time in Lahore that would provide treatment for 24 hours a day.
Earlier, he added, there was only the facility of post heart attack care facility available in the PIC. "A world class facility would now be available in the city," he added.
He said the Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has assured of support to keep the new facility operational and the Punjab government has already sanctioned the operational cost and the management would started hiring new staff soon to meet deadline of January.
Speaking on the occasion the renowned industrialist Mian Muhammad Mansha has donated Rs 55 million for setting up Cath Lab at the new emergency wing of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC).
"I'm grateful to the Friends of PIC for providing me this opportunity," he added.
He said he was admitted to the emergency of PIC twice," he told the media.
He said the PIC was one of the best medical facilities in Punjab and setting up of a model lab would be beneficial to the heart patients at the very early stage. He said efforts are also being made to have ambulance equipped with the facility of communicating the hospital of carrying a heart patient to the hospital.
He said his film was never in favour of disclosing its charity work but he has decided to change his strategy because of a vibrant media in the country.
"I've changed my strategy and I would like to share that I am running the schools under CARE Citizen Foundation, a blind school, health facility for mentally ill people by MINDS and an institution run by the SUIT in Karachi," he added.
He also disclosed that he had rehabilitated the Christians whose homes were burnt down during riots in Lahore. "I urge the people of Pakistan to do the same," he said.
He disclosed he was admitted to Shaukat Khanum hospital when his leg was hurt and added that he was also contributing to Shaukat Khanum.
